Producer Chris Carter, for various reasons, chief among them being Fox’s probable insistence, has moved the entire production to California from Vancouver. This is famous as some of the scenery for the display changes to scenes in various western states and more prominently in the availability of bigger named guest stars. On the whole though, at least for this first season out west, these changes support as an enhancement to the outstanding experience that is “The X-Files.” Season six is another kindly season that fluidly picks up where the movie, “Fight the Future” left off.

The mythology episodes:

“The Beginning” An FBI committee decides that yes, the X-Files will be reopened, they will not however, include Agents Mulder and Scully. Agents Spinder and Fowler will remove that role, both with a mountainous helping of duplicity. AD Skinner is calm on their side though and leads them towards a case that involves the Alien/Syndicate conspiracy. Gibson Praise makes a return as well. “SR 819″ Krycek makes a modern appearance and he targets AD Skinner with alien created nanite technology.

“Two Fathers” & “One Son” Long awaited truths are finally revealed about the fifty year conspiracy between the syndicate and the aliens. The syndicate is all but destroyed by the alien rebels. Simply stated, these are the two episodes that every fan had been waiting five years for. No disappointment whatsoever.

“The Unnatural” I list this as a mythology episode, as it simply does not fit as a stand alone. This episode is singularly the best episode of the season as it contains some large humor and one of the most touching endings of the season. We are treated to meeting Arthur Dale or actually his brother, as he tells Mulder the myth of when he met his first alien.

“Biogenesis” As we learned in “One Son,” the Syndicate is gone and with it the Alien/Syndicate conspiracy. Now we’re treated to a novel track on the mythology, as there unruffled seems to be some sort of conspiracy evidenced by the discovery of an alien ship in Africa and Fox ending up in a loony bin. The conclusion will be on the Season Seven site.

Stand alone episodes:

“Drive” Our heroes rush into a man who must continue involving west at a high rate of hurry or his head will explode. “Triangle” a good X-Files classic as Mulder goes on a search for a ship that’s been missing from the Bermuda Triangle since prior to WWII.

“Dreamland & Dreamland II” Mulder and Scully pick a rush to Station 51, where they rush into the “Men in Shadowy” and they discover a UFO which literally makes Mulder switch bodies with one of the MIB’s. These are simply two of the finest and most hilarious X-Files episodes of the entire nine year urge. “How the Ghosts Stole Christmas” a beautifully well written episode guest starring Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin.

“Terms of Endearment” another extremely well written episode as our heroes visit Roanoke, VA and speed across a bedraggled demon who is in search of a normal child. This episode has another one of those wonderfully well written ironic endings that only Chris Carter is pleasant of. “The Rain King” Mulder and Scully capture a sprint to Kansas to investigate a man who can supposedly originate rain at will. This episode is replete with some of the series most hilarious lines.

“Agua Mala” Mulder and Scully select a ride to Florida in the middle of a hurricane to investigate a family’s disappearance and sight a sea creature. “Monday” this is an X-Files homage to “Ground Hog Day,” that is superbly written and played. “Arcadia” in this pleasing episode our erstwhile heroes pose undercover as husband and wife to eye why three couples have disappeared from a planned community.

“Alpha” Mulder and Scully are summoned by an internet friend of his to fetch a mysterious wild animal that has been shipped to the US that has killed two merchant marines and then disappears. “Trevor” is an moving episode in which Mulder and Scully location off to fetch a prison escapee who supposedly died in a tornado, yet he’s on the loose and exhibiting some racy abilities.

“Milagro” this is an engaging yet horrifying episode in which a writer, fascinated with Scully moves in next to Mulder and begins spying on her. Meanwhile Mulder and Scully are investigating several deaths where victims’ hearts have been removed, but there is no evidence as to how. “Three of a Kind” the quintessential “Lone Gunmen” episode that honest shines with a pure brilliance that may well have been the precursor to their short lived journey off series. “Field Scuttle” our two heroes extinguish up in North Carolina and speed into a hallucinogenic fungal mountain. This episode definitely breeches the different barrier, even for this series!

Special features - Included, as with the other season’s boxed sets, are some vast special features to include my personal well-liked - “Character profile on the Cigarette Smoking Man.” The mask art for the boxed region and DVD’s is unbelievable as well. {ssintrepid}

The last truly outstanding season of “The X-Files” the complete sixth season ties up a few loose ends but the series begins to unravel in the process. The seventh season despite some magnificent episodes would suffer. While the eighth season would glean a jolt of distinguished needed energy from Robert Patrick the writing unruffled wasn’t quite up to previous years. “The X-Files: Fight the Future” appeared during the summer between season five and six. The plot, like the other reduced brand sets from Fox, will include all the episodes from season six. You’ll be able to access special features for respective episodes such as commentary, deleted scenes and international clips.

“The Beginning” ties into the movie although the movie could stand independently on its beget (which is unprejudiced as well because despite some agreeable status pieces it basically was a rehashing of a number of alien movies) . Mulder and Scully have been removed from the X Files and replaced by two novel agents. One of the most bright episodes includes “SR 819″ where Assistant Director Skinner is dismal mailed into helping an aged foe. Skinner has been infected with some mysterious organism that this other person can control to accomplish Skinner do his bidding.

Bruce Campbell appears as a philandering husband in “Terms of Endearment”. When his baby disappears and is apparently taken by a Demon Mulder and Scully are called in by local police to serve with the case. Campbell gives an kindly performance.

The two allotment “Dreamland” is terrific with a astronomical guest performance by Michael McKean (”Spinal Tap”) . A shaded ops agent switches bodies with Mulder freeing him from his shrewish wife and stuffy lifestyle. Suddenly Mulder becomes a wild and crazy guy.

The silly but suspenseful “Arcadia” plants Mulder and Scully in suburbia playing a husband and wife in one of those “planned communities” ruled by an iron fist. Houses have to be a sure color, portable basketball hoops are forbidden and residents who step out of line mysterious vanish or are killed.

Duchovny’s “The Unnatural” is a clever record though-provoking Arthur Dale (here played by character actor M. Emmett Walsh when Darren McGavin wasn’t available in a truly X-files twist), racism and baseball loving aliens space before baseball was integrated. Dale is assigned to protect a African American baseball player who’s life has been threatened as they tour the South.

“How the Ghosts Stole Christmas” is a silly and fun episode with guest appearences by Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin. Mulder decides to check out a worried out on Christmas Eve and a reluctant Scully goes to check on him. The two catch pulled into a surreal epic which makes them doubt their absorb sanity.

For mythology fans the two episodes “Two Fathers and “One Son” closes out the main conspiracy arc of the last five years. While threads remain (and explain up in the spellbinding “Biogenesis”) many of the mysteries of the last five years are nicely wrapped up until we eye that there are aliens on Earth working beside us every day. To say more would spoil it and although it’s unlikely you haven’t seen it, I’d rather not spoil the conclusion and the station up for season seven.

This movie is a perfect example of how a film can be made beautifully effective without having to resort to raw sex, constant violence, or complicated plots. It is the simple but charming memoir of two dreadful children, a brother and a sister, who must allotment one pair of shoes because the brother, during his hotfoot home from the shoe repair loses his sister’s shoes. The loss of the shoes brings on all the difficulties with which they must now cope. The film tenderly shows how they strive toward resolution of their quandary. The dialogue is kept minimal, and yet the director has achieved a very solid tension that keeps your eyes glued to the hide from the opening frames till the very raze. This film beautifully shows a world of which most Westerners are completley unaware, a world that is so different from our enjoy. The bulk of the film is carried very capably, on the shoulders of two shrimp, young children, and they do a totally magnificant job of making you have this very glowing, charming, and safe film. This is the stuff for which Oscars are made.

This 1997 film is from Iran. And it’s the kind of film that the whole family can savor. It’s about a 9-year worn boy who loses his 7-year faded sister’s shoes through no fault of his enjoy. They are very bad and they both want to support it a secret from their parents. And so they part his only pair of worn-out sneakers. She wears them to school in the morning, and then runs through the streets, gives him the shoes and he wears them in the afternoon. Such a belief is not without its challenges, however. She almost loses a shoe when it falls into a gutter. He’s leisurely for school. The shoes are passe. Both of them crave a pair of their acquire.

Amir Farrokh Hasherman is cast as the boy. He has the biggest, most expressive eyes I’ve ever seen and my heart immediately went out to him. Bahare Seddiqi is the miniature sister. She wears a long dress and a white head covering honest like all the other shrimp girls. It’s their shoes that present their individuality and she is always looking at all the other puny girl’s feet. One day she sees a slight girl wearing her fill lost shoes, but the other microscopic girl is the daughter of a blind beggar. Later, there is a footrace announced in the runt boy’s school. He finds out that if he wins third prize he can bag a unique pair of sneakers. The tension mounts.

One of the best things about this film is that it brought me into another culture. This is not about revolution and bombs and sadness. This is honest a simple myth about the treasure between a brother and sister. It transcends all cultures, and makes the audience spy the humanity of the children. There’s one scene where they super the shoes and blow vast huge soap bubbles at each other. It certainly is heartwarming. I objective wanted to give these children a mammoth great hug.

Mere words cannot lisp my excitement for this release! “Thriller: En Grym Film” aka “Thriller: A Cruel Relate”, “They Call Her One Scrutinize”, “Hookers Revenge”, etc, is one of the most sought after cult classics ever. Fans have had to tolerate blurred and wash out VHS bootlegs lacking subtitles for years, but that is all about to reach to an destroy with this aesthetic presentation of the film uncut on DVD thanks to Synapse, the company who brought us the awesome “Vampyros Lesbos” DVD among others.

First about the film for those who haven’t seen it: Splendid Swedish cult siren Christina Lindberg plays Frigga who cannot tell after a childhood trauma. One day she misses her bus and accepts a scuttle and later a dinner date, from a rather shady character who kidnaps her. After getting her zigzag on heroine, he forces her to work as a prostitute, and gouges her perceive out when she refuses her first client. Frigga saves her money and pays for lessons in martial arts, accelerate car driving and shooting, before taking her revenge on those cruel customers who old-fashioned and abused her and her pimp.

As the title suggests this is one viciously bleak film. From the barren wind swept Swedish landscape and eerie electric fetch to the hard core sex scenes and watch gouge scene which was created using a sincere cadaver, “Thriller” is a truly potent cult shocker. A lot of the credit for the films impact must go to Lindberg for her radiant performance. She draws the viewer in moral from the beginning, making us feel her peaceful suffering and appreciate her revenge. Her color co-ordinated glimpse patches were later ripped off for Darryl Hannah’s character in “Raze Bill”, but this is the valid deal. Lindberg is a truly striking and unforgettable cult figure, carrying a shotgun and dressed all in dusky she is enigmatic and certainly makes shameless plagiarizer Tartino’s work scrutinize pale by comparison.

P.S. 4-disc “Dawn of the Monotonous” is another must beget!

UPDATE

I got a copy of the DVD today and though I’d add a few first hand comments to the review I’d already written now that I have personally seen the DVD. Hope it’s advantageous……

As soon as I opened the case I was imediately impressed with the fine color insert containing linear notes and some nice photo’s of sweetheart Chirstina Lindberg. The menu’s on the disc were frigid and exploring them I found all the spacious special features promised. The photo galleries were especially marvelous, I really liked the cute shots of Christina relaxing on situation in between takes.

The characterize quality is gigantic, while being overall a diminutive soft (a few seconds seem to have being taken from a deteriated print) the colors are rich and vibrant. After only seeing the film on sloppy bootleg VHS copies, indeed viewing Synapse’s DVD is as though viewing the film for the first time, attractive!

Once again, I cannot recommend this one enough.

Thank You Synapse!

Looking befriend at the 1970s from the distance of nearly three decades reveals a number of troubling revelations. The grisly spasms known as disco came to the fore during this decade. Then there was the clothing, a toxic mix of fluorescent colors matched with retch inducing stylistic innovations. And don’t forget about the hairstyles–oh, the hairstyles! The less said about haircuts during the decade of Watergate and lines at the gas pump, the better for all enthusiastic. There is one redeeming feature of the 1970s, however, and that is the chunky blossoming of the exploitation film. The sleaziest films ever made came out between 1970 and 1979; films packed to the rafters with gore and highly stylized violence, often mixed with glorious babes prancing about in their birthday attire. I belief I’d seen most of these films over the past ten years or so, but I was rank. It took the introduction of DVD to bring forth one of the sleaziest, vilest pieces of exploitation cinema ever made in the western world. That movie is Bo Arne Vibenius’s “Thriller: A Cruel Recount,” sometimes referred to by the title of its censored version, “They Call Her One Contemplate.” Whatever name it carries, this is one sick, over the top movie.

“Thriller” follows the exploits (and the exploitation of) one Scandinavian cutie named Madeleine (Christina Lindberg) . Her life on a Swedish farm leaves a lot to be desired. The victim of a vicious assault as a child, Madeleine developed muteness as a psychological defense to the memory of this aggression. She’s smooth calm all these years later when, as a fetching young lady, she takes trips to a doctor for treatments to restore her divulge. It is while she’s waiting by the side of the road to bag a bus for one of these trips that the greasy Tony (Heinz Hopf) rolls up in a pleasing automobile. He readily offers our young heroine a slouch to the doctor, which she unfortunately accepts, but his intentions are far from sterling. Tony is a procurer of young ladies for a local harridan hotel, and he saw dollar signs (Krona signs? ) after spotting Madeleine. He takes her out for a bite to eat and then convinces the girl to near serve to his site for a residence of rest and relaxation. Tony snappily subdues the girl with injections of hard drugs, and keeps her locked up in his apartment for weeks on waste so he can insure Madeleine develops a hardcore addiction. Sick stuff, for definite, but things earn worse in a bustle when Lindberg’s character heads to the brothel.

A highly sought after prize for both male and female customers, Madeleine soon learns the cost of resisting her novel profession when she attacks her first client. Exasperated by her imprudent behavior, Tony shows up with a scalpel and removes one of Madeleine’s eyes–shown in nauseating end up. What follows is unprejudiced as abominable, as we explore Lindberg’s character working her plan through a number of customers. The camera hides nothing from us during this section of the film; it’s as hardcore as you can rep. Madeleine bides her time through these indignities, however, carefully stowing away money for her future plans of retribution against her myriad enemies. She eventually manages to mosey away from her station of employment for classes in self-defense, learns how to shoot a variety of firearms with a trained professional, and even takes driving classes. When we finally look our gal don a long murky coat to match her stare patch, we realize we’re seeing “One Examine” about to embark on a bloody spree of revenge. She shotguns to death several of the abusive men in her life, and in one scene deals with a couple of cops by beating them to bloody pulps. Madeleine gets her revenge, but will her future be any better than her past?

Oh boy! You’ve not seen exploitation until you’ve lived through “Thriller.” This film has every conceivable debauchery acted out in tubby belief. I’ll skip suitable over the scenes in the brothel and win straight to the hyperstylized violence. Nearly every act of vengeance carried out by Madeleine takes plot in extremely insensible motion, so we the audience can gape the ample squibs blowing inaugurate and the body cartwheeling through spot. The scenes racy the beat down with the cops are virtual ballets of flying fists and spurting blood. Literally. You can sight mammoth strands of the red stuff arcing through the air after Lindberg delivers a blow to the chin or nose. The whole thing runs on for something like five elephantine minutes. Once you come by past the sleaze and violence, you’ll likely contemplate this absorbing woman named Christina Lindberg, an actress who can truly emote with fair a contemplate or a gesture. She’s an amazingly heavenly young woman who will send your heart into paroxysms of joy. It’s tough to notice this charming gal undergo such brutal treatment at the hands of thugs, so don’t be surprised if you come by yourself rooting for her to bewitch corpulent revenge on these gorillas.

As for the film itself, there’s some controversy surrounding Synapse’s release of the film. Director Vibenius supposedly opposed his film coming out on DVD, and he fought Synapse at every turn. Nonetheless, the company performed an admirable transfer (although some footage looks quite grainy) and turned up some alternate footage and assorted cutting room floor snippets to throw in as extras on the DVD. A photo gallery, liner notes, film bios, and a gigantic number of trailers accompany these supplements, with most of the trailers carrying the reduce version title “They Call Her One Look.” Any exploitation fan worth his or her salt needs to ogle “Thriller” at some point, fair to say that they’ve seen it. It’s a strong drink indeed, but one worth taking if you like this sort of thing.

After more than two decades, JESUS OF NAZARETH remains the greatest motion relate on the life of Jesus Christ -unsurpassed and second-to-none. Beautifully directed by Franco Zeffirelli (best known for his 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet) and featuring a constellation of the greatest international actors: Sir Lawrence Olivier, Rod Steiger, Anne Bancroft, Ernest Borgnine, James Earl Jones, Anthony Quinn (among others, oh my!), this six-hour magnum opus has given flesh and humanity to the people and events of the Gospel narratives like no other movie before or since.

The film begins with the events prior to the Anunciation and Nativity, through the life of Christ, leading up to the Crucifixion and Resurrection, from Joseph’s betrothal to Mary (played by Olivia Hussey, best known for her role as Juliet in the aforementioned film.) to the Empty Tomb on Easter Sunday. Suitable production allows us to perceive with astronomical detail the customs and daily life in first-century Judaea. The backdrop of Roman oppression and Jewish discontent is masterfully shown and successfully correlated to Jesus’ ministry, in particular the political maneuvering of the cunning Herod (wondrously played by Peter Ustinov) and its effects on messianic expectation. Many persons mentioned only in passing or alluded to in the gospels such as Caiaphas and Pontius Pilate are portrayed with mountainous credibility, allowing us to understand the historical figures’ motives and intentions more fully.

Among the numerous superlative performances, surely the most indispensable is that of Robert Powell in his role as the Nazarene, whose performance subtly captures the humanity of the Son of God, neither adding human weakness where none is point to (vis-a-vis The Last Temptation of Christ), nor resorting to docetic immutability (Greatest Epic Ever Told) . Indeed, one senses that Jesus is fully aware of who He is in this film.

In terms of scope, detail and production, this film is a must-see, setting a standard of excellence which unfortunately has not been met since. JESUS OF NAZARETH makes for tremendous viewing not only for the seasoned Christian but for seekers and those enthusiastic in an sparkling near to the life of Christ. Genuine.

To date, “Jesus of Nazareth” is most certainly the best Jesus movie ever made. Director Franco Zeffirelli presents the anecdote of Jesus Christ in a very authentic manner. This film sticks lovely grand to the script, the Holy Bible. This historical anecdote of Jesus starts before the birth of Christ and runs through His life, His substitutionary death for all our sins on the tainted, and His reappearance afterward. Noteworthy time is spent on our Lord’s three-year long mission preaching and performing miracles as an adult on earth, and many scenes are genuinely touching, leaving not a dry ogle in the audience. We’ve first seen this movie when it was released abet in the tedious 70s, and since then we’ve watched it a few dozen times. The nearly six and a half hours running time are not a bother for those fervent in the life of Christ. This narrate comes across as a very well funded production and remarkable care has been given to detail. We’re determined that most viewers will be touched, aided by Robert Powell’s realistic performance and portrayal of our Savior Jesus Christ. This movie will construct you consider about your personal relationship with God, while you’ll devour an exceptionally well-made motion describe.

“The Repulsive Truth” represents something I never understanding I’d see: A romantic comedy that both women and men will luxuriate in. Granted, it probably won’t be for the same reasons. Women will like it because underneath it all, it’s a fairly typical romantic comedy, the yarn of Girl Hates Boy, Boy Hates Girl, Boy and Girl Topple in Appreciate Anyway. Men will like it because one of the main characters expresses grand of what they contemplate and feel on a daily basis. Everyone will like it because the narrative is arresting and the characters are not mere cardboard caricatures. You can actually invest in them, and you’re able to care about what’s going on. What could easily have been a routine date night movie is instead a surprisingly superb movie that need not wait until date night. It’s also genuinely funny–a bit raunchy, yes, but comical unprejudiced the same.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ugly Truth! Click Here

Much of the film’s success is due to the unbelievable onscreen chemistry between Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. They continuously produce us laugh, yet the comedy is not so substantial that you can’t hold them in their roles. They form a point of interacting with one another, not as laughable relief but as accurate people. Heigl plays Abby Richter, the romantically challenged, neurotic, controlling producer of a failing Sacramento morning talk demonstrate. Butler plays Mike Chadaway, the chauvinistic host of a public access relationship program called “The Plain Truth.” He’s unapologetically tell-it-like-it-is in matters of men and women. There’s no such thing, he claims, as a sensitive, nurturing man who wants to connect at an emotional level. Men honest want sex, lifeless and simple. And they only want it with splendid women.

Abby, who thinks Mike’s rhetoric is appalling, is terrified when she learns that he has been hired to her space in an anxiety to boost ratings. They clash at every turn … until he learns that she’s fervent in dating her next door neighbor–an orthopedic surgeon named Colin (Eric Winter) who honest happens to be incredibly shapely. Sensing she’s doing everything corrupt to originate a relationship, Mike offers to succor Abby by having her test his relationships theories on Colin. She reluctantly agrees, and determined enough, Mike’s methods work wonders. She dresses more provocatively. She learns to terminate being principal and avoid discussing her personal problems. She learns to be the embodiment of both the saint and the sinner, or as Mike puts it, “The librarian and the stripper.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ugly Truth! Click Here

And that’s when things initiate to rep more complex. Abby is succeeding with Colin, but only at the expense of not being herself. On the other hand, could anyone worship her as herself? She is, after all, known for bringing background checks and printed topics of conversation to blind dates. As for Mike, he has very determined reasons for believing that loving relationships are a sham. They’re gradually revealed not only through carefully structured scenes, but also through Butler, who shows he can rep the suitable balance between smug and sensitive. We seek that Mike is the closest thing his young nephew has for a father, and even though he playfully gives the boy relationship advice, he’s also mercurial to remind him that kids should never, ever glance his demonstrate.

Heigl also manages a balancing act with her performance, specifically between strength and vulnerability. Abby overachieves at work to compensate for a lack of a admire life, which initially seems droll but steadily grows desperate. For reasons she doesn’t care to admit to, she’s falling in savor with Mike, and he too is falling in esteem with her. But what about Colin? Is he with Abby only because of the façade Mike told her to assign up? There’s a scene between her and Colin tedious in the film that directly addresses this deny, and to my delight, it’s handled in a design that avoids unbiased about everything that would happen in the average romantic comedy. There are no shouting matches. There are no flying fists. There are no confrontations. There’s only a serene moment of realization that the truth is indeed grisly.

Scenes like these are wonderfully juxtaposed with moments of well written comedy. There are some very comical moments between Cheryl Hines and John Michael Higgins as unhappily married news anchors who allotment the same desk and time slot. The film’s single funniest scene takes state in a restaurant and involves Abby, an extremely stimulating pair of underwear, and a control plot that ends up in the cross hands.

I can say with complete honesty (and some embarrassment) that I wasn’t expecting such a strong film. I certainly wasn’t expecting a strong film belonging to this particular genre. What floors me is that two of the three writers of this film are Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith. There are the same two that brought us “The House Bunny,” one of the worst films of 2008. They certainly got it true this time around. “The Frightening Truth” is one of the best romantic comedies I’ve seen in a long time, a exquisite and spirited yarn about the fronts people demonstrate. It’s amusing without lowering itself to the level of cheap gags, and this is in spite of the film’s well-deserved R rating. Heigl and Butler convincingly pull off a romance, no dinky feat given the contrived nature of these kinds of films. At last, a date movie both the man and the woman can bask in.

this is a very raunchy apt to the point film which is extremely hilarious as long as you have a very initiate mind and are not at all prudish. gerry and katherine play off each other with expansive ease and are very comfortable in this very amusing sex comedy about how men really contemplate about sex and relationships according to mike, gerrys character, against kathys character, who is a very uptight frail chick. the film is all about their inevitable clashes against their varied opinions on this topic and how they survive working together on a early morning chat present. i thoroughly recommend this film for an extremely comedic time for both men and women. it is not your usual chick flick and most people will be able to connect with this film and its morales, even though they might not want to admit it.

Over the years, it seems that the Robin Hood saga has been a popular of sorts for film makers to re-invent, manipulate, and showcase again and again. No doubt due to global appeal and the premise of a hero taking from the rich, giving to the awful, and fighting the first-rate fight.

Of all the Robin Hood films ever produced, it’s readily apparent that Prince of Thieves relies less on beneficial historical accuracy and leans more toward Hollywood flair which mild makes for an intriguing film. Despite using no English accent (which appears to grate on some reviewers for some reason), Kevin Costner presents himself well in the role of Robin Hood. Coupled with shapely performances from Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman, Christian Slater, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, (to name unprejudiced a few), the epic moves at an enthralling spin and hits the stamp as a stand up adventure movie that doesn’t disappoint.

As for the modern 2 disc special edition release of this movie, it objective got a whole lot better. Not having to flip the disc over any more to discover the entire feature like in the first release, you now have a original digital transfer and a remastered DTS 5.1 soundtrack and both are outstanding. On disc 2 you have titanic bonus material enhancing the value and enjoyment even further. Included is a decent documentary on the making of Prince of Thieves, Bryan Adams performing his music video of ‘(Everything I do) I do it for you’, an interactive mediaeval weapons gallery, cast and crew bios, production notes, interviews with cast and crew, and trailers and t.v. spots.

You don’t really have to be a die-hard Robin Hood fan to devour this movie. The film has a few flaws and stretches the historical aspect somewhat but it plays out well with plenty of action, adventure, humor, and fun. This special edition release would be a safe addition to any DVD collection and I recommend it to everyone.

I was at [local store] one day and saw the extended Robin Hood DVD on sale. I decided to take it. I view that I liked all the swordplay, action, fantasy tales. I have to jabber you. It was a immense engage! It was only [$$] for such a tremendous extended movie.

Plot - Our distinguished Robin Hood is in a Jerusalem prison. He escapes with a moor, Azeem (Morgan Freeman), and his friend, Peter. Peter doesn’t acquire it, but wants Robin to promise that he will protect his sister, Marion. Robin agrees and finds his scheme home with Azeem. They scrutinize Robin’s father listless and their servant blinded. The Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman, who is perfect in the role) killed Robin’s father and is doing depraved deeds to the dreadful people in the spot. Robin and Azeem raze up in Sherwood Forest and meet its occupants, including John Dinky and Will Scarlett. They all team up and choose to fight help against the Sheriff. (94/100)

Acting - A lot of people abominate how Kevin Costner speaks in this movie. I really didn’t scrutinize a change in his enlighten at all. So it didn’t really bother me! I notion Kevin did well as Robin. Christian Slater and Alan Rickman were the two who stole the movie. Christian was mammoth as the mysterious and confusing Will Scarlett. Alan Rickman was hilarious and rank as the Sheriff. They both were sizable and should have deserved spacious credit for their positions. Also, there is a short cameo by Sean Connery. (96/100)

Buy,Download, Or Stream Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves! Click Here

Action and Violence - There is a lot of action and violence in this movie. It could have been rated R. There is a lot of swordplay, arrows being fired into faces, fist fights, and blood. I believe any action man would like this movie. Considerable Action Scenes : Overrun By Celts, Fiery Assault, Cheating The Hangman, Storming The Castle, and Final Duel. To check out these scenes, capture the DVD and access them through Scene Selection. (95/100)

Sexual Themes - There are some sexual themes in this sage. There is a scene where Marion is about to be raped from the Sheriff. Also, Robin swims around nude under a waterfall. So there is some sexual swear. I don’t really contemplate it was needed though. (89/100)

The Two Discs and The Extended Version - The extended version is very noble. It explains a lot more about the Sheriff. There is also some action set into some places. It is worth the money.

The extended version comes with two discs. Thankfully, you didn’t have to “turn the disc over” to seek the “whole” movie. So I was glad that I could impartial gawk the whole feature film on one disc. The other discs are loaded with extras. There is commentaries, documentaries, making of features, galleries, trailers, and more.

Extended Version (98/100) The Two Discs (94/100)

Overall, this movie is very well done. It is very excellent and worth the money to consume. Don’t collect the unique disc. It isn’t worth it! Impartial assume this. It has tons of action, romance, some comedy, elegant sets and landscapes, and objective an all around tremendous feel to it.

Overall - 94 A

The extended version is supposedly UNRATED.

UNRATED for strong violence, action, sexual themes, and brief strong language.

Having barely seen an episode or two on PBS in my youth, I really got into the series after seeing the 1997 US TV movie. I expeditiously snatched up every VHS tape, and found every other missing episode and unreleased record on bootleg videos, to obsessively have every hobble of existing Doctor Who known to man. I preferred Jon Pertwee’s Doc the best, with Troughton and T. Baker next. No need to gather into the current classic series, so on with the recent one.

Right from the inaugurate, I really be pleased Eccleston’s portrayal of the Doctor. It seems he really did his homework and seems to have found impartial the accurate combination of wit and intellect that made so many previous doctors a success. His quickly tongue seems to preserve up to the fleet unique trail of the point to. While the longer episode, vintage shows had more time for character development and interaction, in today’s snappy paced world of 32x snappy forward hurry DVD capability, you can’t have 4 to 6 fragment episodes and interrogate to support people’s attention to that one storyline. It worked in the 70’s, but certainly wouldn’t work now.

Vintage Doctor Who always had mammoth supporting casts and guest stars, and the current series is no different. Rose’s boyfriend and mom support up nicely to the prance and plotting of the explain. Simon Callow gives a titanic performance as Charles Dickens in the series 3rd episode.

Episode 1, Rose, sweeps us support into the whirlwind world of Doctor Who that we all know and appreciate. It seems like it nearly skipped a beat since 1989, with only the surroundings and special effects being updated. It also offers enough info to support a current viewer enthusiastic. ‘Rose’ is very action packed, remarkable more than most vintage Who stories, and I believe it has to be in some contrivance to cater to the thrill-a-minute current millenium that we are all now fully accustomed to.

I had seen some sneak preview photos of the Autons before the reveal aired, and I understanding they looked a dinky awkward and feared they might approach across a bit cheesy in live action, however they threw me for a loop after watching Rose, as they looked incredibly lifelike and menacing. Bravo for the special effects wizards who worked on them as they looked shining. A good opening episode to bring us all succor into Who!

Ep. 2 kept Eccleston’s gripping tongue going, and flew us into an alien place residence, complete with impartial about every novel concoction of an alien species one can concoct. Actually, the oddest looking species was the human!! A murderous metallic location of spiders is unleashed on a group of interplanetary oglers, wanting to discover the last moments of Earth. The always fashionably-late-in-saving-the-day Doctor has to reach to Rose and everyone else’s rescue.

Ep. 3 takes us to familiar Who territory, a period allotment on planet Earth. 1869 to be real, and Charles Dickens is giving a Christmas Eve performance of A Christmas Carol that gets rudely interrupted by a gas powered, walking corpse. The sets and costumes are genuine, and this 19th century Cardiff place yarn is a steady treat.

Episodes 4 & 5 are the first two portion storyline, which deals with the Slitheen aliens invading Parliament. It features some hilarious moments when the Slitheen attempt to wear their “rubber suits” that impersonate humans.

Ep. 6 is what we’ve all been waiting for: The Dalek episode. But alas, it features only one, but that’s all it takes for a very strong episode keen an American collector of the future, who happens to have found one remaining Dalek, but doesn’t realize how uncertain it really is. The Doctor, fully aware of Dalek aggression, has to step in and space things straight, with a slight succor from Rose.

Ep. 7, The Long Game, takes us into a satellite location position where people are not returning from obvious floors of the dwelling.

Ep. 8, one of the strongest and certainly the most emotional of the series, sees Rose wanting the Doctor to allow her to discover the father she never knew, however she does something the Doctor would never do, and specifically asks her not to do: interferes with time.

Episodes 9 & 10 is another two parter involves the Doctor and Rose in the middle of bomb ridden London circa 1941. Captain Jack Harkness is introduced and becomes a rival hero character for the Doctor.

Ep. 11 involves the return of the Slitheen and their understanding to destory Earth.

Ep. 12 features a mammoth spoof of reality shows, with the Doctor stuck in the middle. This episode also features the best cliffhanger of the modern show: Rose is kidnapped by the Daleks and the Doctor defiantly proclaims “I’m gonna blow every last stinkin’ one of ya out of the sky”. Something no previous doctor would have ever said, it’s a now classic quote and very characteristic of the unusual Who era, and the unique Doctor.

Episode 13, the final battle with the Daleks, is the culmination of startling sci-fi entertainment, and a exquisite arguement for being the best season in the show’s long and storied history. It extremely disappointing that Eccleston is not returning for Season 2. That is a shame, because his Doctor is extremely well played. Hopefully David Tennant can bear his shoes nicely, and I’m clear the writing will be unprejudiced as strong as series 1.

These are going to be loaded with all the extras found in the UK release. They initially released bare bones DVD’s on Status 2, in 4 volumes, which is how I got them as I had to have each recent Who legal away, and I can’t wait until May 1st, when I will have the first of season 2 in my hands!! For now, US fans unable to play or come by a own of Spot 2 discs, have the Sci-Fi Channel airings and this recent area out in July!!

Dr. Who is Forty (actually he’s 900, but like the Doctor, the exhibit had been around in one perform or another since 1964) . The BBC famous in 2005 by bringing the prove encourage to television for its 27th season (or as it is more consistently called: SEASON ONE) in a glossy, fast-paced enough to satisfy contemporary audiences, while calm conscious of its roots. This Place contains all 13 season one episodes from the rebirth of the longest running sci-fi series in TV history. The producers clearly have a respect and idea of the UK icon. Obviously, fans, the creators do things with the prove we would do ourselves.

EXTRAS:

SET features the companion series DR. WHO CONFIDENTIAL, a tedious the scenes demonstrate that ran concurrently providing an episode for all 13 shows supplying fun chart toping tunes to film footage, interviews and more. Area also includes commentaries by cast and crew actually worth listening to!!

Doctor Who has always has a protest defined by the decade each in tune with its era and this holds good to the modern Doctor Who. This Doctor is almost child-like in his enthusiasm and wonder. Featuring the Doctor as played by Christopher Eccleston (Shallow Grave, Gone in 60 Seconds), infusing the character with tremendous intensity and humanity, while remaining mysterious and alien, along with his companion Rose played by Billie Piper, growing from an awed slacker to a seasoned area adventurer. However, the format of the prove has changed to 45 min. parts, some 2 parters ending with cliffhangers, some without. Like any “current” series there are superb episodes and not-so-good ones, the upside here is MOST of these are vast episodes! The 40 year history of the series isn’t squeezed into one pilot, through-out the year we pick up a trickle of back-story, some faded, like his time/space machine looks like a police-call-box, and some unique back-story, like the fact that his run, the TIMELORDS have been wiped out in a TIME WAR.

The PILOT story: “ROSE” introduces his original companion Rose Tyler who is attacked by mannequins (or AUTONS) in the department store where she works. She meets the Doctor and the pair kill up fighting to attach the world. The pacing of this one, like most of the 13 recent episodes, is like lightning, and the Autons have never been scarier. The TARDIS (interior) has never looked better or bigger.

Next in “THE Demolish of the WORLD” The Doctor offers Rose a chance to go anyplace, anytime, they slay up 5 Billion years in the future above the Earth fair before it ends. But someone has sabotaged the very observation satellite they’re on. Not a dreadful episode, it shoots very high with a “Restaurant at the Extinguish of the Universe” motif and cinematically accomplishes it, also reveals that the Doctor is the “Last of the Timelords.”

In the episodes 4 & 5 “ALIENS of LONDON” & “WORLD WAR III.” The Doctor takes Rose home (mistakenly) 12 months later. We FINALLY learn what happens benefit home when a companion up and leaves with the Doctor. The pair deal with Rose’s Mum, who view she was tiresome, and the ex-boyfriend who has been the main suspect. But when a spaceship crashes in the Thames in an “elegant” sequence which sets current standards for TV effects, the whole world goes on Red Alert, and the Doctor is noticed by the Government. Contains a nice mix of CGI and latex. Also features Toshiko Sato, returning character for Dr. Who spin-off TORCHWOOD due to broadcast for slack ‘06.

In Episode 6, “DALEK” Beneath the Salt Plains of Utah, the billionaire collector Henry Van Statten holds the last relic of an alien accelerate and the one living point to in the museum is a….you know what. This one makes the Daleks scary (again)! One Dalek, outgunned, outnumbered, boy is mankind in exertion. This one was nominated for a 2006 HUGO Science Fiction Achievement Award for Best Dramatic Presentation Short Perform category (Battlestar Galactica won it last year for the episode “33″)

In episode 8, FATHER’S DAY, The Doctor takes Rose assist in time to meet her long-dead Father, but the Tylers finds themselves battling the Reapers. A truly heart-wrenching episode, loads of disturbing imagery. The interaction between the Doctor and Rose is very valid, in spite of the increasing unreality of the area(a 2006 HUGO, SCI-FI Achievement Award NOMINATION) .

In the 9th episode, THE EMPTY CHILD. Its London, 1941, the Blitz. A mysterious child terrorizes Homeless children in this 2 piece storyline. The Empty Child tale continues in The DOCTOR DANCES. The Child’s plague is spreading throughout wartime London, and so is its zombie army. “TORCHWOOD’s” main spin-off character Capt. Jack Harkness is introduced…

ROSE: You dilapidated to be a Time Agent, now you’re some kind

of freelancer.

JACK: That’s a itsy-bitsy harsh- I consume to assume of myself

as a criminal.

The “Empty Child” and “The Doctor Dances” maybe one of the greatest stories in the entire history Dr. Who.(2006 HUGO, SCI-FI Achievement Award NOMINATION)

In the 12th episode, Awful WOLF, the Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack have to fight for their lives on board the Game Position, in the season finale, THE PARTING of the WAYS, Rose Tyler has seen anxiety and wonders alongside the Doctor, but now their friendship is do to the test and the Doctor says goodbye…sort of. This 2 parter features “Tall Brother,” & “Weakest link” gags as the Doctor becomes a “flatmate” and Rose a contestant. Also features the “Final Battle” of the “Time War,” the return of an obsolete enemy in a battle sequence that couldn’t be beat even if Dr. Who goes to the tall veil!

AWARDS:

The 2005 series won the 2006 BROADCAST AWARD for BEST DRAMA SERIES adding to the series’ successes at the National Television Awards (voted Most Common Drama), TV Moments, and the BBC 2005 Drama Awards! The show’s two stars (Eccleston and Piper) scooped the most well-liked actor and actress honors in the awards voted by the public. Dr. Who (2005) was also nominated for not only the 2006 HUGO Award (announcing winners on Aug 26), but on May 7th it WON 5 of the most prestigious award British Television has to offer: the BAFTAS Awards (British Academy of FILM and TELEVISION ARTS) out of the 14 categories it was nominated. Winning for BEST DRAMA SERIES, BEST DIRECTOR, BEST MAKE-UP, BEST COSTUME, BEST DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY and the PIONEER AUDIENCE AWARD which was voted for by the British public (kind of like the US People’s Choice Award) .

WHEN it aired on SCI-FI FRIDAYS @8 PM CENTRAL there were some lines and moments cleave from the novel BBC versions, these are the complete episodes.

Hopefully SCI-FI will buy up SEASON 2, starting with the post-regeneration CHRISTMAS INVASION because have it or not the next 13 even better!!

This four-disc place includes all 24 episodes of “The Muppet Demonstrate” from the 1977-1978 television season — one of the show’s funniest years — digitally remastered like those on The Muppet Note - Season One and The Muppet Point To - Season Three. Each prove has all of its fresh converse, includes segments originally seen only in the United Kingdom, and runs a plump 25:30. As with those in the other years, the guest stars for this season are a mix of Hollywood legends and then-current celebrities, but this year had more than its piece of major stars. Here’s the complete line-up:

EPISODE 19: Peter Sellers

EPISODE 20: Petula Clark

EPISODE 21: Bob Hope

EPISODE 22: Teresa Brewer

EPISODE 23: John Cleese

EPISODE 24: Cloris Leachman

Most of these shows have a lot to offer, but to me two really stand out. First, the John Cleese demonstrate is hilarious. In its Pigs in Spot skit, the Monty Python star chews up the scenery as pirate Long John Silversteen. “A pirate don’t exhaust an intercom!” Cleese scarls when a Muppet suggests a current intention to communicate. “‘Twould be sissy!” The Nureyev episode, on the other hand, is a true oddity. After the ballet star sings “Putting On My Top Hat,” he shoots down his chorus line with a machine gun. Later, he dances to “Swan Lake” with a human-size pig.

Bonus features include “The Muppets Valentine Day Special,” a 1974 television pilot which aired more than two years before “The Muppet Point To” debuted. Kermit the Frog and actress Mia Farrow star, but the host is Wally, a Henson character who would rarely be seen again. Also included is “The Muppets on The Muppets,” (a 13-minute series of tongue-in-cheek interviews) and the 2002 music video “Sustain Fishin’” by Weezer.

Also worth mentioning is the packaging. The menus on each disc are hosted (Fozzie Occupy and Kermit chat with you on Discs 1 and 3; Animal and Rizzo handle Discs 2 and 4) and the episodes themselves have (unidentified) chapter stops. In addition, the box itself is more than objective cardboard, at least in this initial printing. On the front, Miss Piggy’s face is fuzzy, and her blue eyes sparkle.

Problems? Honest one: the closed captioning doesn’t include any song lyrics!

Two years of painful waiting has finally produced Season 2 of “The Muppet Reveal” on DVD. Compiliation of season one was apparently fraught with copyright squabbles, resulting in some missed segments and shows of varied length. Happily, all shows on this space hurry to approximately the same length and reveal no signs of slicing and dicing. And that’s salubrious, because The Muppets became stars (well, quasi-stars, they were puppets) during this season and were able to attract bigger names. In inequity to season one, anyone alive in 1977-78 would gape 95% of the names listed on the box: Elton John, Bob Hope, George Burns, Julie Andrews, Steve Martin, Peter Sellers, Petula Clark, and on and on. Anyone who wasn’t there will probably wonder how a bunch of love talking oven mitts ever caught on with the public. Those who were there know why. Season 2 solidified the cast: Kermit as undisputed front runner (he plays marginal roles in the pilots), Miss Piggy as the pig infused with unrequited care for, Fozzy as the cheesy comedian, Statler and Waldorf as the curmudgeon critics, Gonzo as the frustrated artist. The indefatigable “Pigs in Plot” also made its debut. Season two ends up being worth the wait. It even has a fuzzy mask.

The show’s formula remained vaudevillian with songs, skits, and stars. Ghosts of the Marx Brothers loom in the background. Puns and slapstick abound. Even international artistic sensations such as Rudolph Nureyev descend all pretensions. Nureyev dances with a expansive pig. He sings, dressed only in a towel, “Baby, it’s cool outside” with an wrathful Miss Piggy. She tries to abscond with the towel. The guy definitely had a sense of humor. When Steve Martin appeared, the demonstrate was canceled. Instead they held auditions for unusual acts. Martin plays his celebrated “wild and crazy guy” (sans obscenities) to its hammy limits. He has to compete with the vivid “ribbit” song duet, who do provocative renditions of “Musty Man Ribbit” and “Design Down Upon the Swami Ribbit.” A hard act to beat, for positive. Elton John fits honest in with chickens in leather, broad feathery creatures and singing crocodiles providing accompaniment. Judy Collins does an improbable rendition of “There was an Broken-down Woman who Swallowed a Glide.” Julie Andrews, serene in robust divulge, reprises her Sound of Music days with Muppetry. Peter Sellers delivers the usual hilarious and disturbing performance. He squawks to Kermit “There is no me I do not exist. There traditional to be a me but I had it surgically removed.” And of course John Cleese steals the entire present. Even Muppets can’t compete.

Season one included the show’s pilot, and this area includes a sort of a pilot. In 1974 “The Muppets Valentine Special” aired with guest Mia Farrow. It was a test race. The formula wasn’t exactly perfected yet, though an it presents an involving recognize at the formation of the Muppets. Ernie and Bert even appear. But don’t blink. This experiment remains a far bellow from the hit display that debuted a few years later. By 1981 the Muppets were so great that Jim Henson pulled the TV demonstrate for larger bait, namely more movies. But in the behind 1970s the Muppets reigned on television. Season 2 showcases their imminent rise and shows once and for all that there was entertainment before CG.

Now how long before Season 3?

“End Bill” is an anomaly in today’s Hollywood culture. Here is a movie that neither makes you judge too hard nor tears at you heartstrings–and it is a truly capable flick. Under the shrewd (and possibly insane) hands of Quentin Tarantino, “End Bill” details an ultrally brutal and even more emotionally statisfying quest for revenge.

Beat to a bloody pulp and shot in the head and left for monotonous at her wedding day, The Bride (Uma Thurman, whose name is never revealed) is carted away in a four-year-long coma. She wakes up and vows revenge. And, oh, does Thurman play revenge well. It seems that the supporting cast (Lucy Lui, Vivica A. Fox, among others) truly beat Thurman to the edge of death. Her eyes drawl her emotion–the dinky and brief dialogue isn’t even critical. She is surpremely convincing in every aspect of her performance, even throughout the amazingly stylish fight sequences (which build “The Matrix” to shame) . She fights like a pro with samurai swords, lethal daggers, butcher knives, and frying pans.

One of the main draws to this redefining adventure is the hilarious subject matter. Tarantino goes overboard. Blood flies about like fruit punch, gushing out of wounds like a torrential downpour (sometimes, in fact, you will even wonder if the human body has that mighty blood), and in any other movie, that gore would force you to leave–but here, it doesn’t. Why? Because Tarantino never takes himself too seriously. Fight scenes are punctuated with effective and sometimes comic dialogue. But beneath the hokey action scenes and the cute quips, there is a steady movie at work here. Tarantino dances about the timeline, bouncing the narrative help and forth to a dizzying point, which forces your burly attention on the gradually unfolding general narrative. The cliffhanger ending merely seals the deal.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kill Bill - Volume One! Click Here

“Raze Bill” deserves all of the accolades it gets. Although it may seem to be a hackfest on the surface, there is fair talent at work here. Uma Thurman and Lucy Lui give tantalizing performances; the anecdote, however linear it may be, it instantly grabbing; and Tarantino’s masterful direction is as inspiringly as it is slightly distubring. A accurate masterpiece. One of the films to beat for 2003.

Don’t gain me wrong: I liked the movie a lot. But this is a skimpy DVD and intellectual how Miramax works, impartial the first of several editions. If you fill off buying this one and place the money aside, I’m distinct you’ll have opportunities to retract Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 together for a lower label - or the rumored Demolish Bill: Director’s Slice that will expose it as one 3-hour movie. Those later editions will likely have all the extras - this one doesn’t behold like it has considerable. As someone who’s been burned by Miramax’s DVD practices before, I objective want to offer you a warning. Be patient - and you’ll be rewarded later.

First, let me initiate by saying that the only reason I don’t give this 5 stars is that I wanted a bit more from the commentary track, as I prove below.

The bellow of this amazing movie is covered amply elsewhere, so I won’t explain what others have so well synopsized. I WOULD like to point out a couple of things about this particular DVD:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Young Frankenstein! Click Here

1) The commentary track is accessible from the the LANGUAGE SELECTION menu, rather than from the special features menu (as is usual for commentary tracks) . I was terribly frustrated by this until I got some aid from Christian at boldopinions.com (thanks Christian!) .

2) Yes, the commentary track IS mostly Mel babbling, but there are some nice tidbits here (many of the cut-away shots were place in because Gene Wilder kept breaking, Mel view “Puttin’ On The Ritz” was frivolous, etc.) . It’s also heart-breaking to hear about how Marty Feldman’s health habits led to his death at age 59. Unfortunately, since Mel’s commentary leans toward the personal, we don’t win to hear about the roots of the dart-throwing scene (practically a duplication of a scene in “Son of Frankenstein”) — and I would Allege that the trees going by the window in the Transylvanian screech sequence are the same ones in the sigh sequence in “Son of Frankenstein.” So we can’t have everything.

3) The documentary is really wonderful– it’s definite that everyone has warm feelings about the film, and the recollections are enchanting and insightful. It gives the movie added dimension, so don’t pass it over.

I haven’t seen mention in the Amazon reviews of “Young Frankenstein” the multiple homages to “Son of Frankenstein,” not the least of which is Gene Wilder’s spot-on lord-of-the-manor affectations through many of the early Transylvanian sequences (in his grandfather’s bedroom: “And where is my grandfather’s PRIVATE library? …[book snatched from shelf] Why, these books are all very general [snap snap snap the pages]; any doctor might have them in his recognize [SLAP book closed]” and the entirety of the aforementioned dart-throwing scene (in which Wilder is positively CHANNELING Basil Rathbone) . So originate “Son of Frankenstein” ALSO required viewing prior to seeing “Young Frankenstein.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Young Frankenstein! Click Here

Finally, I assume that Mel hits the nail on the head when he says (repeatedly) that so many scenes are emotional at the same time that they’re being droll. This film was made with such esteem by all concerned, and it shows. Yes, it can be occasionally crass, and go for clear cheap laughs (albeit Distinguished less so than any movie Mel has made before or since), but what one ultimately takes away from this movie is the amazing amount of care everyone took with the project. Hell, you might even glean yourself with a lumber in your perceive at the slay (I did– the awesome catch by John Morris helps a lot!) . Alas, Mel and Gene were never again to collaborate on a script (it is incredible that the Borscht Belt comedy of Mel Brooks and the hopeless romanticism of Gene Wilder found such fertile creative ground in the first area!), so this movie is lightning in a bottle (pun intended) . Don’t miss it.

This may unbiased be the funniest movie of all time. Mel Brooks never before (and never again) worked with the tight parameters he did here: gene Wilder actually wrote most of the script, and that plus the utilize of the used Universal sets and props seem to have kept Borooks’s more sophomoric instincts (which have gone overboard in some of his later films) tightly in check. Thus he–and everyone else in the film–is doing their absolutely finest work ever.

From Teri Garr “rolling in ze hay,” to Kenneth Mars’s inspired Police Inspector, everyone in the entire film seems to be working at their most hysterically hilarious. Special mention must be given to Gene Wilder giving one of his most classic performances of his strangled-fury schtick ever (”Set Aside… the candle… attend!!!”) and to Peter Boyle, for his very poignant and amusing depiction of the Monster.

But standing above all of the waste in terms of sheer brilliance is Madeline Kahn, giving what must be the funniest female performace ever on film as Frankenstein’s fiancee and the monster’s eventual bride. Unlike everyone else in the film, she’s not really parodying anyone other than herself; yet nevertheless her depiction of Elizabeth, the wealthy prude who discovers she’s a volcano of passion undeneath, is so laughable I’m practically crying almost every time I stare this film. There’s one brief itsy-bitsy scene where she’s brushing her hair in her boudoir before the Monster steals into her room and kidnaps her, and for absolutely no apparent reason(which makes the scene all the funnier) she’s giving vent to a deeply lusty rendition of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” while brushing out her hair. It is the funniest five seconds in the entire film–and in a film this hilarious that’s saying a lot.
